Requesting Assistance through a Trained Kendall County Food Pantry Advocate
If you are a Kendall County resident facing economic difficulties due to unemployment, ‘under employment,’ or other factors, the Kendall County Food Pantry (KCFP) is willing and ready to reach out to quickly assist and support you and your loved ones.
Located at 1204 Deer Street in Yorkville, the KCFP is committed to providing essential supplemental and emergency food and foodstuffs to the neediest individuals and families in the country. The distribution hours at Kendall County Food Pantry are on Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. From 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the distribution is limited to the Elderly and Disabled (typically, those receiving Social Security benefits due to either age or a disability). However, they may come any time during the service hours. All others requesting assistance are served beginning at 3:00 p.m. until closing at 7:00 p.m., on first come, first serve basis.
When an individual or family first encounters economic challenges, KCFP is committed to provide food from the pantry. Those requesting assistance for the first time are required to provide proof of Kendall County residency with a valid identification (typically, this is a State of Illinois Driver’s License or State ID Card) and share the names and birthdates for each family member requesting assistance. Additionally, adults in the same households are required to provide proof of residency and minor birth certificates are required within the initial visits.
At that visit, you are urged to request an appointment with Kendall County Food Pantry’s trained Advocates, who are members of several local Christian churches, including Community Christian Church and Trinity United Methodist Church in Yorkville. At the scheduled advocacy appointment, a trained volunteer Advocate will provide valuable information to you and your family regarding additional services available to you and your family within the county, based on eligibility requirements that are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Visit the Kendall County Food Pantry web site to learn about eligibility requirements to receive ongoing food pantry assistance. To learn more about services available to Kendall County residents in need, review the Kendall Cares Directory of Assistance.
Emergency assistance is also available, at other Kendall County Christian ministries, including Caring Hands Thrift Shop and Kendall County Community Bridges.
